Since founding Cloud Dance and Cloud Dance Festival in 2007, I've become increasingly focussed on artist support and artist development, using research to highlight issues affecting independent artists and the wider independent sector, such as unpaid work and rates of pay.
Through Cloud Dance Festival, I've worked with around 200 artists in a range of capacities including producing and mentoring, and I started working as an independent producer in 2012.
I continue to work with individual artists on a consultancy basis, however I'm more interested in empowering artists to learn the skills for self-sufficiency.
I've produced a number of platforms over the years, from the 14 Cloud Dance Festivals, bimonthly evenings of dance, scratch nights, small platforms, launch events and adhoc performances.
I've also been working as a production photographer since 2012; I enjoy that this provides me with a different perspective of the creation process and a different working relationship with artists.
My work, particularly with artist-led networks, takes me around the country a lot, so I'm generally only in London when I need to be, and in Brighton or back up North the rest of the time.
